Pennahia anea és una espècie de peix de la família dels esciènids i de l'ordre dels perciformes present des del Golf Pèrsic fins a Taiwan, les Filipines, Borneo i l'extrem meridional de l'illa de Java.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24] Els mascles poden assolir 30 cm de longitud total.[2][25] És un peix marí, de clima tropical i demersal que viu fins als 60 m de fondària.[2] Menja crustacis petits, cucs bentònics i peixets.[2] Es comercialitza fresc i en salaó.[26] És inofensiu per als humans.[2]
