Past week Olaf added a wordlists for Catalan, which means Catalan-speaking Wikipedians can now contribute in this languages. Do you know where we could relay this news ?

Bonjour. This is great and helpful. You can post it up at Viquipèdia:La taverna/Novetats.
Fet! Merci ! :)
Hola, your points on Viquipèdia:La taverna/Novetats encouraged us to open a discussion over the Catalan variants. We are considering creating one language for each, so an user could record in the precise dialect. Would that be better ? The conversations is there. Also : thank you for the post on Novetats !
For an overview of the Catalan pronuntiation you can see random pages on Catalan Wiktionaty, i.e. from wikt:Category:Adjectius en català. In many cases it is enough with the two major groups Eastern and Western with no significant changes in formal speech. In other cases it is detailed by dialects: Central, Balearic, Valencian and Northwestern. Northern Catalan and Algherese are only added in key words when it is relevant. The local template for audio records accepts the codes explained at wikt:Help:Àudio de pronunciacions#Llista de codis de dialectes i accents. On English Wiktionary, where I collaborated to develop it, they present only the three major dialects: Central, Balearic and Valencian.
In short, I think speakers will feel comfortable with classification in 6 dialects. For some phonetic features the isoglosses are variable and do not correspond with dialects, however the location of the speaker is always useful.
