Maybe you have noticed: Since April, line numbers are shown in wikitext when you have the syntax highlighting feature (CodeMirror extension) enabled. We hope it’s a useful feature for you.

Currently, line numbers are only shown in the template namespace, but our team has received feedback that they could be useful in all namespaces. We would like to find out if that is actually the case and enable line numbers on all namespaces on a few first wikis.

Because Catalan Wikipedia was among the first wikis to get the other changes from our team related to syntax highlighting, we were wondering: Do you also want to be among the first wikis to get line numbers on all namespaces?

If so, please let me know. There isn’t a deployment date planned yet, but I roughly expect deployment within the next 1-2 months.

Thanks a lot to everyone who commented here. I understand that we can proceed and enable line numbering on all namespaces on Catalan Wikipedia. We don't have a deployment date in mind yet, but I'll make sure we let you know a few days in advance.

Not blockers for me. It is solved opting out synthax highlight on mobile, but it may cause a bad experience.

Hello! Here’s a little update on this topic: Line numbers in all namespaces will come to your wiki soon. Deployment is planned for September 29. For now, the deployment is planned for these wikis: Catalan and German Wikipedia, all group 0 wikis (including mediawiki.org and testwiki) and the Wikitech wiki. It would be great if you could spread the news among the Catalan community to make sure that contributors who don’t follow technical channels like this one know about the change in time. And please let us know how the line numbering on all namespaces works for you. Your feedback will play a big role in our decision whether to deploy line numbering to all namespaces on all wikis.   Thanks a lot, Johanna
